Sony playstation phone 2009

Posted by admin | Filed under: Sony

Rumors say that Sony is preparing the launch of a PlayStation Portable based phone to hit the shelves as soon as Christmas 2009. Japanese and Korean sources state that Sony is working on converting the current PSP into a phone, while analysts say that it would be “relatively easy” to do since the PSP already has wi-fi.

Although right now the PSP has skype and VOIP so.. Why on earth dont they just leave it as that or, will they suprise us with a new phone to compete with the big boys in the cell market right now?

Although there seems to be a few little problems with its patent.

We’ve all heard rumors about a PlayStation (or PlayStation Portable) Phone by Sony Ericsson for some time now, but this is the first time that we’ve actually seen what one might look like. Filed back in 2006, this patent application features a touchscreen with haptic feedback (yeah, like the iPhone) that can transform the button layout from phone to PSP just by turning it. Here’s what the application had to say:

In another embodiment there is presented a system and method of reconfiguring the graphical user interface (GUI) of a mechanically vibrated touchscreen display associated with a portable mobile communications device that is operable in a variety of modes. An orientation sensing mechanism senses whether the portable mobile communications device is currently in a portrait or landscape orientation and accesses an orientation profile that associates each mode of operation with either a portrait or landscape orientation. A list of modes of operation associated with the sensed orientation of the portable mobile communications device is presented to the user. The user is prompted to select a mode of operation from the list. Input indicative of a selected mode of operation is received and the GUI of the mechanically vibrated touchscreen display is reconfigured for the selected mode of operation associated.

Ahh, there’s nothing like a huge quote of patentspeak to get the blood flowing on a Monday morning.

Apparently it looks like it could come Febuary 2009 allthough this is just super-internet-buzz-talk .. Lets just wait and see.

The playstation phone

Posted by admin | Filed under: Sony

Well over a year ago now, rumors from major tech gadget and gaming blogs told us about the (at the time well hyped sony playstation phone) as the apple iPhone got iFans camping out side of cell phone stores apparently Sony Ericcson were working on what was dubbed the playtation phone.

Basically, there still working on it apparently, Gizmodo states that The Sony Ericsson gaming boss, Peter Ahnegard, said that a PlayStation-branded gaming phone would be coming by Christmas. He also added that it might not be this Christmas, which probably pissed whoever he was talking to off to no end. Sony Ericsson, who’ve already branded their W-line of phones the Walkman line, the K-line of phones the Cyber-shot line, and some random Japanese line the Bravia line, can easily brand another line (G, maybe, since P is taken) the PlayStation line. It doesn’t even need games other than the mobile ones that already exist for their cellphones, which run just fine on SE’s higher-end hardware.

Although now VOIP/Skype is available on the PSP have they totally scrapped the PlayStation phone?

As we speak I’m currently wanting to get a new phone, right now I have quite an old’ish Sony Ericsson Cybershot which does pretty much what I want a phone to do e.g call, SMS, photo’s, film, mp3, internet (web browsing), RSS feeds and email.

Although I do want to upgrade to the new T-Mobile G1 with Google Android but competition from the apple iPhone and the new Vodafone Blackberry are harsh I have to say.

Who knows if Sony will ever release a playstation phone, we will have to wait and see.

The Sony Playstation 4

Posted by admin | Filed under: General, Playstation, Sony

All the buzz right now is about the Sony Playstation 3 but with the Sony PSX, the PS2 and now the PS3 it begs the question is there going to be a 4th console in the series and if so when? Playstatic are guessing its going to be around 2010, I think the fact that Sony’s expected life time of the Playstation 3 console is an estimated 10 years. The way that technology is going right now, a new console will have to launch within the next 5 years to keep updated with what video game software can provide for example, online gaming and gaming 3.0.

Right now the hoaxes have already started appearing on the web, with a classic ‘Rick roll’ appearing on Youtube stating.

“The playstation 4 was announced yesterday at a sony conference in Los Angeles.
Release date: TBA 2011″

This is however untrue, no one knows when the release date is going to be although rumors are currently flying around.

Something which popped up on a very well known and respected technology and gadgets blog back in 2006 before the PlayStation 3 wasn’t even out was Sony’s Phil Harrison’s wild speculations about the capability of Playstation 4. According to him, the PS4 won’t support physical discs. At all. He said: “I’d be amazed if the PlayStation 4 has a physical disc drive”,  which sounds crazy to me? My first thought would be digital downloads.

Sony unveils 240Hz LCD TV

Posted by admin | Filed under: Sony

Sony has has allways been at the forefront of TV technology. Today the company went even further by introducing the first ever 240Hz LCD TV and the world’s thinnest TV.

Hold your breath until December (in the US), because that’s when Sony’s 240Hz LCD TVs will be available to the public. Currently LCD TVs are topping out at 120Hz for consumers, and that’s already a significant improvement in speed over the standard 50-60Hz of normal (for want of a better term) LCD TVs.

The new 240Hz technology promises to provide the smoothest, most lifelike and finest movement ever from an LCD TV and will be great for Playstation 3 gamers playing the latest games. We’re still a little concerned about 240Hz with movies though. As it is 120Hz makes TV and movies look a little crazy.

The 240Hz technology will be available in the KDL-46W1 and KDL-40W1 that boasts full-HD, 3,000:1 contrast ratio, BRAVIA Engine 2 and 24p support.
