Wipeout HD

Posted by admin | Filed under: PS3

Wipeout which was launched in 1995 became the poster boy of original Play Station. This was mainly because the game maximized the use of features available with Play Station. Wipeout is looked upon as a combination of Wipeout Pure and Pulse, the two games introduced by Sony earlier. The game has also been priced at only 20$ so as to attract as many gamers as possible. The high definition makeover could attract existing Wipeout gamers to sift to Wipeout HD. The mix of cutting edge visuals and techno sound makes the game even more exciting.

The game has three components, the single player campaign, the online mode and a racebox for individual races. The single player structure is similar to Wipeout Pulse, which has levels that keep getting difficult as you progress.

The single player has five different events: single race, multi-race competition, time trials, speed laps and zone. In zone mode the speed of the ship keeps increasing until the ship is damaged and it explodes. In Wipeout HD you do not have to win every game to proceed, instead points are awarded at the end of each race.

These points are awarded based on your final position at the end of the race and you will need minimum number of points to succeed in that level. There are eight levels in total but each level offers more and more races as you proceed. The online mode is much better than the AI mode, as performance of the game is enhanced in this mode. Furthermore playing with real players creates much more fantastic races which enhances the game play. The ships explode more often in online mode and it gets more and more competitive as the game progresses. The two player split screen mode has a lower frame rate which makes the game very slow when there are many ships on screen.

The game aims at providing a lot of style with substance. The environment is clean without any ambiguity. Also the games 1080p and 60 frames per second visual makes the screen look as real as possible. The soundtrack of the game is good and if you liked the music of Wipeout Pulse then you will appreciate the music of this game as well. All this provides for a good playing experience.
The main drawback of the game is that it does not offer the player anything new. If you have played Wipeout Pure and Pulse there is not much excitement to look for in Wipeout HD. Secondly the online mode is far more enjoyable when compared to AI mode.

The very fact that the existence of elimination mode is limited makes the game stale. Even the multi-player is limited to single races or twelve competition race, which gives the gamers very limited options to choose from. The game has the same tunes as in Pulse which makes one feel that he is playing the older version of the game.
The game is good, attractively priced and has great technology, but those who have played Pulse and Pure will not have much to look forward to.

EA sports NHL 09 exclusive review

Posted by admin | Filed under: PS3

EA sports NHL 09 video trailer from Playstation Games.

NHL 09 is published and developed by Electronic Arts. The game was introduced in the US in Sept. 9, 2008. If your predecessor is good you will have to be a lot better to create a mark for yourself and NHL 09 has done just that. With NHL 08 doing really well the pressure to deliver is much higher in NHL 09 and NHL 09 does not disappoint.

One look at the new modes and the improved controls establishes the supremacy of the game over its predecessor. The very addictive nature of the game and the outstanding game play makes it one of the best sports games of all time.
When you first log into the game you are asked to create and customize Be-a-Pro character for yourself. You can then choose the team in which you want your player to be. You will begin in AHL unless you elect to control an already established NHL player.

For the player to advance from being a rookie to a NHL legend the player must gain minimum number of points in each attribute. A third person camera follows your player on ice and with every single game that he plays, he will gets points which will help in upgrading his attributes. Even though you play as Be-a-Pro character, the attributes that you gain in one mode is not transferred to the next mode.

This makes the game even more difficult as it takes several games to gain just one attribute point. But simply playing good team hockey is such an addictive thrill that you forget how difficult the game has become. NHL 09 is more defense focused game and if you want to score a goal will require more than just simple maneuvering. It will require a lot of strategy and game plan if you want to score. All the features that make the game difficult also make the game interesting, because when you score the excitement is truly mind blowing.

There is coach who keeps advises you constantly. This becomes tedious at times but is always better to listen to him as he is always helpful.

The technology used in the game is also helps in game play. The 60 frames-per-second frame rate brings a lot of clarity to the game. The moving camera helps you capture every moment of the game without missing a single minute of excitement. The commentary of Gary Thorne and Bill Clement is truly outstanding.

Gary’s voice is so good that when he speaks there is never a dull moment in the game. Clement is like an information bank who keeps giving meaningful insights about the game of hockey.
One of the drawbacks of the game is that you have no power to set ticket and concession prices and make modification to team’s stadium. Also there is a problem with the camera when it rotates a full 360 degrees, as it makes it very difficult to track the puck.
All in all a great hockey game one of the best so far. The right analog stick control is a feature any gamer could die for. A must have for any gamer especially for person who loves hockey games.

Metal gear solid 4 exclusive review

Posted by admin | Filed under: PS3

Metal Gear Solid 4Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is the latest release by developer’s Kojima Productions in its Metal Gear series. The game was released in US on June 12th this year. MGS 4 is one of the most technically stunning video games ever made in PS3 console. The storyline is extremely slick and it blends so effortlessly with the game play, that it makes it impossible for anyone not to be addicted to the game. The environment and the animations in the game will take your breath away. Also a lot of effort is gone into the detailing of the game which makes it further more enjoyable to play.

The storyline is very simple. The hero Snake is getting older and now has to cope with aging and stiff joints, but this is not the only problem. Liquid Ocelot’s plots and plans only make matters worst for Snake. This is Snakes final hurrah, so you find many old friends and enemies being re-introduced in the game to make it more exciting.

Since the hero is getting older it is very important to keep an eye on his stress level and his psyche. When snake is unwell his physical gauge starts depleting, this effects his movement and strength. Once his physical gauge starts depleting, his movement becomes slower and he cannot rush for cover when there is an attack. Furthermore if the body is weak it will affect his ability to carry weapons.

This will make Snake more venerable to attack.
The game play has improved considerably when compared to its predecessors. The features shooting and close-combat the controls are much more streamlined. The ease of play can be felt when you want to grab the enemy or when you want to perform a stealthy blade kill. One of the most satisfying aspects of the game is the ease with which you can use the weapon. Every weapon that is available feels just right, weather it is sidearm, assault rifle or a powerful rail gun. The over the shoulder view and the first person view, have both been enhanced to improve the game play. The battles are usually very long and require Snake to fight very many enemies before he can reach the target. The sound design of the game has been improved and is excellent throughout the game. Every soundtrack blends with the context very effortlessly. The sounds emitted during the explosions, the laughter and the screams of the characters is one of the best in recent times.
The weapons and gadgets add to the excitement. One of the best gadgets in the game is the OctoCamo suit. This suit takes the texture of the surroundings which helps Snake camouflage his presence and avoid watchful eyes of his enemies. Solid eye is another important gadget which expands your compass and allows you to use night vision. This helps you to follow enemy footprints in the night and kill him with ease.

The only drawback in the game, if one is forced to point out one, is difficulty in creating an online account. The process is laborious and becomes even more difficult if you do not have a keyboard. All in all Metal Gear Solid 4 is a great game and a buy for anyone who appreciates games.

Pro evolution 2009 exclusive review

Posted by admin | Filed under: PS3, Playstation

Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 Video Trailer Official from Konami.

The latest series in the long line of pro evolution soccer games, the Play station 3 soccer game for 2009 has been completely re-developed from its less successful predecessor. Konami, the makers of pro evolution soccer 2009, had been heavily busy fixing known errors and investing a lot to input the best possible features in to the game.

Konami was able to secure a whole variety of deals to enhance the game, some which include deals to secure the rights to the UEFA Champion’s League and the rights to use Wembley Stadium in the pro evolution soccer game. These are exclusive rights to each respectively, signifying the level of improvement in the game. Pro evolution soccer 2009 not only offers a larger range of deal brought features, but it also offers plenty of in match benefits.

The ‘realistic’ approach has been taken to give the game a better stance than its nearest and biggest rivals FIFA football 2009. The developers have taken even a special focus on the physics of the game, with making ball contact with player and surface much more calculated and realistic. In addition to this, the same has been applied to different weather conditions, such as the ball will run more on a wet surface than a surface on a dry day. Furthermore, another positive to the game is the increase in skill usability.

Based on a player’s ability, new skills and techniques can be used to confound the opposition. This is a massive factor in a Pro evolution soccer 2009 player’s experience of the game as they are able to try out new things, test the limits, and push the boundaries. Some examples of new skills are being able to try out skills in close range, such as kicking the ball over a defenders leg in the smallest of seconds, and being able to flick balls up for extraordinary volleys.

As always, these skills are shown by an improvement of graphics in the game. Graphics are known to be a regular improvement in each game, but little do the graphics actually improve. This is a part of both for pro evolution soccer 2009. No actual mouth watering additions have been made, though the game has better details on players and an overall better running of matches.

Whilst buying the rights too many different features such as brands of Adidas, Nike and Puma, there also needs to be more in game features to use them. Such is the case with pro evolution soccer 2009, with better life like taste in the master league and a completely new feature called ‘Be a Legend’. The master league has a starting sense in how the actual world of football proceeds, with the transfer market, as teams are affected by deals in transfers that benefit them and vice versa.

Meanwhile, pro evolution soccer 2009’s brand new feature, Be a legend, is much like the normal feature in which you can take control of a manager throughout his career, instead, the game player gets to live the life of the footballer.

It is rather blatant that Konami have gone to leaps and bounds to improve Pro evolution soccer 2009, in which they have certainly prevailed.

The evolution of the playstation

Posted by admin | Filed under: PS2, PS3, Playstation

A Playstation is a 32-bit video game console in the fifth generation. Way back in 1994, Sony Computer Entertainment was the very first company to get into Playstation series. The Playstation passion started with the hand-held gaming devices that had consoles as successors. First one of them was Net Yaroze and then started in series the yet another versions like “PS One” followed by-Pocket Station, Play station 2, Slimline PS 2, Play Station Portable (PSP), PSX, and Playstation 3.

By March 2005, the madden of a Playstation is such that the combined sales of Playstation and PS One were over 100 million consoles. In the history of Video gaming in the world, the Playstation has recorded one of the longest production runs. Sony announced the end of the Playstation production in March 2006.

The PlayStation was launched in Japan on December 3, 1994 and North America on September 9, 1995. The launch price in the American market was us$299 and Sony enjoyed a very successful launch with titles of almost every genre.
The PlayStation was also able to get interest with a series of campaigns of advertising. Many of the ads released at the time of launch were full of ambiguous content. This rendered many gamers rabidly debating their meanings.
During its production run, the PlayStation went through a number of variants, each accompanied by a change in the part number. The most notable change was the gradual reduction in the number of external connectors on the unit. This started very early on only.
Sony’s successor to the PlayStation is the backward compatible with its predecessor , he PlayStation 2, in that it can play almost every PlayStation game. This was done by embedding the PS one’s most important parts inside the PlayStation 2 design. The PlayStation 2 actually contains the original PlayStation processor, allowing games to run exactly as they do on the PlayStation unlike emulators that run on a PC. For PlayStation 2 games this processor which is called the IOP is used for input and output like memory cards, DVD drive, network, and hard drive. Like its predecessor, the PS 2 is based on hardware developed by Sony itself.

The third generation of the PlayStation was launched on November 11, 2006 in Japan, November 17, 2006 in North America which is known as the PlayStation 3 (abbreviated PS3). The PS 3 was initially backward compatible with almost all games that were originally made for PS 1, but due to the remotion of some components after the creation of the 40GB version whose capability is limited now to emulation. In PAL territories and later shipments in North America and Japan (40GB versions and after), however, the PlayStation 3 is not backward compatible in terms of hardware and so supports significantly fewer PS 2 games.

A PlayStation motherboard -MIPS R3000A-compatible 32bit with a RISC chip running at around 33.8688 MHz. The chip is made by LSI Logic Corp. with license from SGI. The chip also contains the Geometry Transformation Engine and the Data Decompression Engine.

Thus playstation is contributing in every area which you can think of be it business, ad, creativity or elsewhere.

Grand Theft Auto IV

Posted by admin | Filed under: PS3

Grand Theft Auto IV is an action adventure video game developed by Rockstar North. It is the ninth title in the Grand Auto Theft series and was released on 29th April 2008 in Australia, Europe and North America. The game is based in Liberty City, a fictional city, based on modern day New York. The hero is Niko Bellic who is a war veteran and has come to US to fulfill his American Dream, but quickly gets tangled up in seedy underworld of gangs, crime and corruption. The game apart from giving you driving and third person shooter experience also gives you features of open game play which will give the players more control over their playing experience. The player’s character is capable of walking, running, swimming, climbing and jumping, as well as utilizing weapons and basic hand-to-hand combat.

You can steal a variety of vehicles right from a motorcycle to a helicopter. Grand Theft Auto IV uses Natural Motion’s Euphoria engine to make the characters and the objects look more realistic, for example the car will go into a deep spin if you do not watch yourself on the turns.

The shooting system of the game is very realistic. You can lock on to the targets body part with a revamped targeting system. Niko’s health is represented by green semi-circle which is on the left side of the map. Health lost can be recovered by using an escort service, eating, drinking soda, sleeping, using medical kits or by calling paramedics.

When Niko losses his health completely he re-spawns at the hospital, with of course his wealth going down by 10%. When police search’s for Niko, a search circle appears which increases if he is spotted or the police are too close to him.

Presentation wise the game is just excellent. The emphasis on each and every detail is excellent. When you steal the car or have pizza in a restaurant you will be mesmerized by the amount of detailing that has gone to build the game. The lighting in the game is also just great. The affect of the lighting in the game can be clearly felt when you go under a bridge and you are able to see the sunlight peek through cracks. The camera system is also excellent as it allows you to rotate the right analog stick to get a 360 degree view, this is particularly helpful if police chasing you.

There are eleven radio stations in the game which gives us ample choice of music. You can choose from rock, classical, R & B and numerous others. The dialogue of Niko are non repetitive and are very well written. The only complaint that one could have is in the implementation of SIXAXIS support which, at times, can make the game very sloppy. The game is all right at first, as you can tilt your controller to do a wheelie on a motorcycle, but when you try to manage a helicopter then the problem starts. Therefore it is always better to stick with standard controls.

The game has an excellent environment, a great story line and excellent graphics. The effort put in detailing is truly mind blowing. All this makes it a must have game.
